This is a superb execution of architectural symmetry and contextual design—clean, precise, and deeply rooted in both form and function. The concept of “equal treatment” for the two brothers (clients) is immediately legible, and it’s carried through in a way that feels harmonious, not rigid.
The project carries both a conceptual elegance and a pragmatic realism, ideal for an international clientele.
The mirrored layout is clear, but the slight shifts—like vegetation variation and inhabitant movement—break the monotony and add life. It avoids the trap of over-symmetry. The design is beautifully embedded into the slope, not imposed on it. That soft terracing of the terrain, left semi-natural, gives a raw Mediterranean charm. The thick concrete frames give a sense of protection and permanence while also acting as bold visual markers. The overhangs create a cinematic rhythm of shadows that will shift beautifully during the day. Full-height glazing maximizes views while allowing for visual and emotional connection to the landscape. The narrow horizontal cutouts above echo the long horizon line—sublime. The planted strip at the upper level works double duty: ecological softening and a subtle privacy screen. It’s a gentle buffer between openness and intimacy.
The volumetric clarity likely translates into a straightforward structural grid—economical and easy to build. The cantilevers are modest and well-calculated. Large overhangs shade the interior glazing, especially on a southern exposure. If combined with thermal mass and cross-ventilation, the energy performance would be excellent.
Equal units make construction more efficient—especially important when building overseas clients are involved. This repetition also ensures that neither brother has a “better” side.
The linear pool at the front acts as both a visual and thermal buffer. It enhances the experience of transition from interior to landscape—especially in hot climates. Concrete and glass dominate the palette, celebrating tectonic clarity and timeless durability. Minimal detailing lets the volume speak on its own.
